Strange Popping Sound During Idle

Hi Folks,

I have a 96 850 sedan, non- turbo. 135k miles.

When I come to a stop, I heard a strange popping sound about once every 10 seconds or so. I can't locate it with the hood open.

From drivers seat is sounds like coming from the lower left side of the engine compartment.

Can't recall hearing this before.

I am do for a timing belt at 140K, but most likely will be getting it replaced in a couple of weeks.

Any ideas?

Describe the symptoms a little better. Not sure what you mean by "once every 10 seconds"?
