aikitect
I think that the motor to my heating and AC system died today. It had been emitting a high pitched whins since I bought it, so it is not totally unexpected. When I start the car the fan tries to start and runs for about 2 seconds then it cuts off and the lights on the climate control panel start blinking.I can feel cold air coming from teh vents when the windows are down, so I think that that part of teh system is OK. It was to hot to test the heating. Once I determined that it was not going to work, I turned the system off. This happened once before, but went away when I restarted the car. No such luck this time. My questions:How hard is it to replace the fan (and any write-up, if possible)How expensive are the fansAre the fans very model specific (can I get a used one from an 850 or another 70 series vehicle)Thanks. Bay13
The V70 fans have different connectors than the 850s.I don't have a write up in the repairs section, but it's pretty streight forward. Remove the inside of the glove box. (25torx) then you can take down the kick panel. Then you have access to the blower.
aikitect
Thanks, that sounds very do-able. I was afraid that the whole dash had to be removed. Hopefully it will not turn out like the turbo oil return line - two bolts, one hanger and 12 hours of trial and error trying to get the part out and back in. Now to source the part...
