tallahasseegreys
I used Zymol for the first time on my wagon and my wife's car. I love it, and now that it's time to wash the cars, I don't want to use something that's gonna strip off al my elbow grease. What do you recommend?? Thanks. 850 Stylzz
I think any made for car car washes shouldn't strip it. AFAIK, only dish soap has that honor
drPheta
I hear it's good to strip the wax off of it every so often. I've tried it before and gotten great results (on my previous car), and I used the Meguire's 3 step system after stripping it of all the old wax. It looked beautiful. junibunie
I use meguirs gold class shampoo. Very cheap and you could buy a big jug almost anywhere. Doesnt seem to strip my coat of wax and it doesnt attract too much dust after a wash.

It looked beautiful.when I decide to do a cleaner to polish to wax detail, I'll use dish soap to get all the wax off. Figure it just helps my efforts. Inbetween washes/waxes though get the auto only soap. I generally have been happy w/ Blue Coral.
thevolvoguy
Gold Class is prob. the best locally avalibe shampoos. As others have said if its a car shampoo... its not going to strip your wax. Just dont use too much. About 1.5oz for a avg. 2-3 gallon bucket.
beachnut
I would only strip the car with Dawn once, maybe twice, a year. Repeated use of Dawn may risk breaking down the plasticizers in your clearcoat, but I'm talking about using it alot. For the most part I've personally gotten away from using it. Sometimes I will use it just prior to using a clay bar, but really a clay bar will pretty much knock off most any residual wax, etc. that remains on your finish. I like Meguiar's Gold Class as well and have used it for several years. Recently I purchased a bottle of the new Meguiar's NXT and I like that product too ... nice, long lasting suds. Serge
Zymol is great, I just used it a few weeks ago. Makes the car uber smooth.Meguiar's Soft Wash Gel is what I've used to wash my car for the past year.
drPheta
Yeah, that's what I meant by every so often. DO NOT WASH WITH DISH SOAP OFTEN. It will break down your paint and your wash/wax will have been useless.I've heard great things about zymol as well as meguire's auto soaps.
