Owned
Use a single farad.
CAKES855
it all depends on what ohm rating you are running the amp at, i would suggest a minimum of a 2 farad cap, i have 2 single farad caps and a 400 watt 4 channel and a 1000 watt mono block running at 1 ohm, with one cap my lights dimmed BAD so i had another so i put it in and it did wonders, i say 2 farad minimum, follow Kevin's words of wisdom

If he were to follow the rule of thumb, and it's exactly that, which Kevin posted, a 1 farad would be the out come. He posted "1400 watts" and did not mention if it's RMS or not. This means there's a high probability that he does not know the difference between RMS and peak/max/whatever. I'm not faulting him for this at all. However, knowing that it's probably his amp's peak, we can assume that the RMS is going to be half, or 750 RMS, leading us to a single farad.Could he run a 2F cap with no problems? Absolutely. He can run a 40F cap if he wants to. But a single should be good enough, assuming everything else that factors into the equation is in good working order. R_rated
way to many variables to consider. You shouls be fine with a single 1 farad and stock battery but it really depends on the effinciency of the amp and the power supply.
