Erratic Flashing Dash Led 850 Alarm System

CRK

Recommended Posts

The red led on the dash for the alarm system is flashing like crazy. the relay under the dash is also clicking when the key is in the acc/start posistion. I do not have a remote to lock/unlock the doors. I disconected the battery and will reconect it in a few to see if the problem goes away.

Also the problem was noticed last night, no corretive action was taken. This morning the alarmled was flashing crazy patterns then the horn started beeping. I tried to reset the alarm system by using the key in the ignition. I had no luck with that. That is when I disconected the battery "+" lead.

I am beginig to think that volvos are all female! They start acting weird for no reason at all :D

Who's Lydia?

Not your car but whom you named it after...

Lydia is the name I picked out today to give to my car. The name Lydia has no special meaning to me except maybe in a biblical sense of the name. But more so because it is also considered a Swedish female name.

Dark blue Volvo wagon with quirky problems that seem to fix themselves = Lydia = the 1st Volvo I have ever owned

You can get a fob from the dealer or on line. $119 buckaroos. Easy to programme. That way you can reset your alarm with out the embarresment.

I think spending over 100 bucks on a fob is embarresment enough!!!

That is embarresing to spend that kind of money but when you are in a parkinglot and someone is fumbling trying to shurt their alarm off, for me that is priceless to watch..I bucked up spent the money for a fob and I dont have to worry any more. :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Eh, just got one for 16.50 shipped off ebay.

When ever i had a problem with the alarm... and the FOB was not available...i simply just put the key in the driver side door to disable the alarm (lock it then unlock it)... not the ignition as stated.

I did have one unique problem where the "door open" bell kept ringing... found out it was a fuse for the alarm system which shorted ....but has worked ever since.

My issue now is the FOB wont work..so i will assume it has to do with the FOB itself because the system still works.

I did try the reprogramming tricks mentioned on the site... turn key 5 times etc...but my security light doesnt flash as it should when you do the programming... so perhaps the receiving unit is defective.
