starfish Posted June 4, 2006 Report Share Posted June 4, 2006 Below is a story about Francine Busby, the Democratic candidate for the 50th Congressional District of California.Busby has focused her campaign on ethics reform after the failures of Duke Cunningham. It seems that ethics must not apply to herself. She was campaigning before a largely Latino crowd in Escondido (probably not to hard to find) when she said, “You don't need papers for voting” urging illegal immigrants to vote for her in the upcoming election. The article states that Busby says she doesn't support amnesty, but backs the comprehensive plan pushed by McCain, that includes "opening a path to citizenship for people in the United States illegally if they pay penalties and abide by certain conditions." How could an astute candidate like Ms. Busby, run for a high law office and as part of their platform support an unconstititional bill such as the one proposed by Senators McCain and Kennedy? How dumb can these Senators McCain/Kennedy be to propose a bill that would have illegal immigrants pay back taxes before applying for citizenship? There's just one problem. The U.S. Constitution specifically prohibits revenue-raising legislation i.e. taxes, tax cuts, etc from originating in the Senate. All bills for raising revenue must originate in the House of Representatives. That my friends is another example of our so called "trusted politicians" bullshi**in the populace. The Senae bill is a bunch of crap that they know is a failure. These guys are all afraid of the political third-rail which is truthful, fair and honest reform of illegal immigration.
