Are you just carpeting that?

Looks like it's nice and strong.

Everyone thinks fiberglass is the devil, but it's not really that bad!

I filled and glazed it so if I decide to paint it I just need to block it. Other wise its carpet worthy now. I will probably prime and laquor black it this weekend assuming I have time for another 2 hours of sanding.

Wow...came out very nice. What's the hrs spent so far?

About 6 hours. 8 if you include the rings. I lost my guide so I had to make a new one.

If I decide to piano finish it, it will take me an hour or so to block it and then 2-3 hours for paint. I am going to make sure it fits though and finish the mounts as its a funky ass side mount box.

What did you use for the mdf rings? Looks like a rotozip...but not sure. I have a router, but it's a pain in the arse.

Looks like roto-zip and home-made guide.

I do not like the router guide. I cannot get as much control. I am a tard with MDF so roto-zip does better for me. That guide is once I threw together in 30 minutes. I used to have a much nicer one I made. With a mill you can make a nice one in about an hour. With a drill press you can make a ghetto one in about 30 minutes

Picture looks like crap, but if you mount one over the top of the speaker they are perfect for a flush mount.

They completely hide the mounting ring and perfectly expose the surround.

Yes, they are a little big around and thin...

They'll be plenty strong with a few layers of glass on them.

But I'd still rather stack 2/3 of these than try to cut a decent circle.

With rotozip and guide I can cut a ring in 3/4 in under 2 minutes including set up.
