Denroll
Well, I've been borrowing my Dad's Sirius radio for the past few days and I am totally hooked on it. I want to get one of my own and I am wondering if I can hook it up through an aux input on the SC901 instead of using the less-than-perfect FM way? I have the in-dash 3 CD changer. Can the 6 CD input be used if I don't have that changer? I'm looking at the Sirius S-50 unit if that matters.I would do some searching, but I'm temporarily on some crappy dial up and it takes forever to do anything. Thanks in advance.-D
connorb850
PM Kelvin (crazykn) about it. He can probably make you a custom input adapter cable to use the RCA output from the Sirius to the CD changer input connection on the SC-901.
crazykn
Unfortuantly, you will have to get a AUX in adapter:http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/stor...AUX_DMX_V1.htmlThis is where I bought mine originally when I got my 850, I think its still the best deal out there. What this AUX in unit will do is emulate the CD Changer (a six disc one that is) and allow the audio to come in when you press the cd changer button. Yes I also listen to Sirius radio too! Currently my blitzsafe Aux in isn't really a blitzsafe anymore... I hacked it up and made a switch box, so that I can have my CD Changer in the trunk hardwired to the stock HU as well. Its a complicated setup, but I need the AUX in for my iPod and Sirius radio (XACT XTR-3). Alternatively, some Sirius radios have a FM Transmitter onboard. But with the already so-so quality of sirius, sending it through the stock HU's FM sounds kinda horrible. I'll stick to the AUX in.
Denroll
K, thanks. I'll go ahead and order one.I was going to go with Sirius because I liked the S-50 player and the Octane station. Don't care for Stern at all. Does XM have better sound quality? What is a good XM unit?

AnthonyR
quality will be similar with both xm and sirius. And sirius isn't bad when it's 100% SPDIF all the way thru Anyways, octane is a pretty sweet station, I've had sirius for a little over 3 years now and it's pretty much all I listen to in the car (even with loads of mp3's on my carputer harddrive)
PenguinScotty
Personaly, i love XM. But then again i haven't tried Sirius yet.XM is the 'original' Satelite radio, so i went with it. They also have some other nifty gadgets such as, sort of, mega antennas, which almost guarantees a reception. Mind you, they are literally mega compared to the standard one. I'm currently using the Delphy receiver, which i enjoy very much. Also, the docking station and antenna for home are great. Haven't tried the 'boom-box' but looks neat.I have mine routed through the dash, and am using the cassette deck until i upgrade my head-unit.Anyways, definitely check out both radios. They seem very similar. Check this for the XM channel lineup.
crazykn
I'm a Sirius radio guy, and i'm still intergrating my radio into my system... I need to make a switcher unit between the iPod and sat radio for the AUX IN. And I need to get a AMPS plate compatible iPod holder. by the way, the clip is from ProClip company (and yes its a Swedish product !)Its like i'm running a small rig here, CD Changer, Sirius Radio, iPod all through the factory radio!here is a pic

Fake Name
I'm running my iPod and Sirius through a Blitzsafe AUX input, and a Soundgate Aux 3. The Soundgate uses a small rocker switch to change between sources. On the 850, the iPod is powered by a hardwired belkin thingy, but in the s70, I'm using Blitzsafe unit- a much better device.fn
