Which Struts To Buy?

I was just going to post a thread on this topic, I'll add my info/question here:

1998 C70, 65k miles, Bilstein Yellow all around with IPD springs. Nice, low stance, but the front absolutely HAMMERS over bumps. It's so bad that hitting small-ish bumps under braking triggers ABS because the struts are so stiff.

I put a strut bar on and that helped a lot, especially in quieting some of the dash rattles, but I know I wouldn't make it through a winter with this setup.

Now, I'm perfectly happy with the back, the Bilsteins back there seem to dampen bumps very well without being harsh.

Since the car is lowered, do the strut options / recommendations change? I'd like to keep the rears and go with something a bit more compliant in the front. I'll tear through some steep-hill-twisties on occasion, but I'm willing to give up ultimate stiffness for some of the comfy.

Thoughts?

Koni adjustable sport struts, yellow...if you just want to change out the struts. in my humble opinion.

I do want to only change the front struts. I like the lowered look. This isn't my first lowered car, so I'm used to watching for problems in the road. I just don't want the jackhammer ride...

What is the benefit of Konis on this car? My limited experience with Konis has been that they are firmer-yet than Bilsteins, can their adjustment go softer?

Thanks!

I've never had the HD Bilsteins in an 850 so I can't speak from that. I have the Konis in the R set to one turn up from the factory setting of completely soft and it's nice. It's firm but not jarring at all with 215\40\17 tires at 40 psi and OMP springs. It has the typical issue of the road being transmitted through the dash but even still it's a very acceptable "ride" for people haulin'

I have TC Bilstiens in the 94 with OMP springs and Stock wheels\tire size and I don't like it at all. The Bilsteins even in the TC strut don't give the ride the Konis do imo and I'm sure that's due to one being gas vs the other being hydraulic. It might be that the softest Koni setting is not as firm as a Bilstein but someone else may have to chime in on that comparison.
