h2oiamwater
ok so unplugged one of my subs to plug into one of my friends care because wanted to see how 2 subs would rattle becuase he was think about buying another one and i put it back in my car but didnt hook it back up till i got home and when i got home and got out my brother was in front and i told him to shut the car off he turned it back but into the accesory mode were you can listen to the radio and stuff but my wasnt on so i plug in the black wire in then when i was gonna put the other one on 2 pieces frayed out of the red wire and touched where the black on the other sub was connected to the amp and they sparked....so i unlpugged it and left it alone but when i turned on my stereo my one sub still hits ok but when i plug in the other one it sounds like my bass is all the way down and my trebble is all the way up when its not...........i have a 1000 watt amp and 2 650 watt subs....i just need a second opinion because im ok with installing and all that but not with when stuff goes wrong......some one help thanksok Sorry about that i was just in a hurry kuz i had to get an appointmentok i took my sub out of my car and was gonna put it back in. when i was gonna put it back in i told my brother to take the keys out but he only turned the car to accesory (were you can play radio and stuff). so i went to plug the speaker wire to the amp no knowing it was on and hand the + side plugged in and a few frayed parts of - end hit the + terminal of the other sub and sparked. so i left it unhooked and came back later to hook it back up...now when i hook it up the subs sound like my trebble is all the way up but when one sub is plugged in it hits ok but not like it use to i dont think its the subs but i guess it could be. now my subs dont hit like they should and its not that i cant do something so simple because if the car was completly off like it should have been if my brother could listne then i wouldnt be doing this. any help thanks

HPTDoh
If they were hooked up to two seperate amps, try looking for a blown fuse

Boomin850
Sounds like you either short circuited the subs or burned up a voice coil or something
Patrick.
seriously rephrase that post cuz i'm like reading it and can't tell exactly what you're talking about because commas are not used and commas are an integral part of the english language so when you don't use them people tend to get kinda lost in what you're saying then all of a sudden you're wondering if they're just rambling on about nothing instead of actually posing a coherent question and i wonder if you even know what you're doing at all with car stereo because switiching a sub from one completely wired car to another is something my club-footed retarded gerbil could do without screwing up

AnthonyR
I agree with the others, it was hard to follow, but lets see if I got it right...Basically when trying to connect the second sub, some wire frayed and touched + and - and now a sub is not working right. What kind of amp is it (brand? mono or 2channel?) and what kind of subs? Do you have access to an ohm meter or multi-meter? try reconnecting everything paying special attention to phase (proper +and- hooked up)What it sounds like to me is that it's out of phase with the other sub (the + and - are switched) and the one sub cancels out the other. try reversing the red and black wire on the second sub and see if that makes a difference

ziddey
I'll agree. If it's a single amp powering them, then I'd really think they were out of phase.
