Factory Din To Rca Adapter?

I did some searching and found that some people used the blitzsafe, which seemed ok, and some spliced it into the cd changer. I believe I have an SC-816. Now my questions are

1.) The blitzsafe says it needs to be hooked up to an aux in, do our decks have one? If so, why can't we just use an RCA-->stereo jack and hook it up to the headphone jack on the ipod? Or does the blitzsafe's unit that plugs into the dock connector allow it to be charged. Aside from that, main question, do we have an aux in to connect it to.

2.) Is there a DIN--->RCA converter that can just be hooked up to where the CD changer DIN would go on the back of the deck? (I have no CD changer) And if so, that should work fine for just hooking up the iPod like that, correct?

Any other ideas for ways for me to connect an ipod to my stock deck?

heres a pic of the deck for reference in case it isn't an SC-816

After looking I found this: http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product.php...&cat=281&page=1

Seems like it will work, only problem being that it wont charge the ipod. Any ideas on the blitzsafe one that charges the ipod as well?

Update 2 found it and looks to be exactly what I need:

for those interested.

i heard that there was one that you could get that will actually control the ipod from the factory deck.

just make some playlists and it'll act as a cd through the deck.

i have an 816, so if something good comes up, im doing it too.

As far as I know, the BMW iDrive is the only one that does that. And while it is cool to control through the factory deck, it doesnt display the titles on the deck, and it kinda weird maneuvering through playlists on it

im pretty sure ipd sold the device.

USASpec adapter will control the iPod through the radio... Like said before, no track names. And you need to setup playlists according to the manual to act as the 6 "discs" for the changer interface to recognize. You can find them here.

exactly. you could set up playlists(6) to make it seem like they were actual discs.

more info from discountcarstereo.com about their adapter for the sc-series radios.

nother question while on the topic, with the blitzsafe that you control through the ipod, you can adjust volume through the deck still, right? and what about the pause feature the volume button has on the decks? I think I'm going with the blitzsafe one, the USAspec just isnt that good. My friend has the BMW version, and its kinda annoying you can only play 5 playlists, so you cant browse the ipod and it doesnt display the title either. It's just not any better, and certainly not for another 40$ or so.

What I do with the blitzsafe is turn the ipod volume up all the way and just control the volume through the head unit. That way seems to work the best. The pause on the SC-816 will still stop the sound from coming through the speakers, but the ipod will still be playing unless you manually pause it.

But yeah, I definately recommend the blitzsafe. The sound quality is great and its really nice being able to charge the ipod without having to use the cig. lighter socket.

Yep, this is what I intend to do. Now to start planning the system. Going to keep that looking all stock too.....

Well you could browse the iPod if you just set a single playlist with all the songs in it... not that it really justifies the extra $40

yeah, browse my ipod with no titles showing and going 1 at a time through 5300 songs (24GB of music)

I know, I thought of that, but the ones that you can control through the deck just arent well done right now. Maybe in some time they'll get a better solution
