TorqueSteer
Thats true. (i've got a Blitz DSBC on the 15G)Incidentally, you can also gain top end power by building boost more slowly. You also get a boost limiter function which can be handyDefinately a +1 for getting more top end by building boost more slowly, ecu has time to advance timing to optimal amounts rather than freaking out and retarding timing when slammed with 18 psi in a split second. Gain control is a very nice feature. I might look into the blitz now that I know it has a boost limiter.
USMC850T
Is it actually possible to spin the turbine fast enough to produce 21 pounds boost at 2K rpm??

I got my Spec R for 185$ (minus shipping from HK)The scramble boost is also pretty nice. It will activate when the set boost limit is reached and you can set the scramble to reduce boost for x number of seconds by x ratio. Pretty handy with a manual gearbox to avoid overboosting. By the time the scramble deactivates revs are high enough to avoid running into the limiter again
ViperVette
Is it actually possible to spin the turbine fast enough to produce 21 pounds boost at 2K rpm??I don't believe that would be possible on a 15g. Just seems as though it wouldn't be getting enough flow that low in the band. Maybe someone who knows for sure can chime in.Heh, post 1111 w00t. PullMyFinger
Here is a good example of overboosting a conical 15g.That is a 17psi spike, sending it way way out of its efficiency range and then it promptly falls flat on its face. Down to around 11-12psi. It creates a massive torque spike, that *is* fun to drive with but it has no top end. It gets up there really quick and then nothing more after that. I think the Atech intercooler helps to keep intake temps down, but that charge air is *super* heated right at that point. My knocksense light goes on immediately, right at 4000rpm.This is a BSR stage III ECU with 375cc injectors, intake, Atech intercooler, 3" downpipe, no cat, 3" all the way back and MBC set to 18psi.I have since turned down the boost trying to get less of a spike and a more gradual hp curve with more boost toward redline. But I would need to dyno again to see the differences.I'll be posting more charts and info after the complete Innovate install.
POOKDIZZLE
Impressive none the less on the 15g, probably be a pretty quick car in the 1/4 as long as you get a decent launch :D
PullMyFinger
Launching this car with this setup is *NOT* easy.I'd love to try some ET Streets some time on my old stock rims. Maybe hit up the 1/4 strip after Thunderhill.Anyway, point here is that there is no advantage to running more than about 15psi on a 15g. It just doesn't have the flow to make it usable past 4000 rpm.I envision an asthmatic 90 year old whenever I think about it.Needless to say, the T3 build up can't get finished soon enough! POOKDIZZLE
What t3 are you going with, turbonetics, garrett? If so what mods do you have to do, custom downpipe probably?

PullMyFinger
You're dropping off to 10 psi at redline, why is that happening??A few reasons I imagine. Mostly, the conical 15g just doesn't have enough flow to hold that pressure to redline. It has a very restrictive conical flange outlet which is very cracked. It has a weak wastegate that is undoubtedly leaking a lot. Especially up high. I have the stock exhaust manifold which is very restrictive and cracked also. Not to mention that this turbo is well aged and just plain tired.
PullMyFinger
What t3 are you going with, turbonetics, garrett? If so what mods do you have to do, custom downpipe probably?I have a rebuilt Garrett water cooled center section from a Ferd. 60trim compressor with a new cover that matches the inlet and outlet size and position of the mitsu. I will start off with a .48 A/R turbine housing off of a Vovo 740. And a 5bolt swingvalve assembly that has a conical outlet to match my 3" conical downpipe. Then after I test that I'll replace the swingvalve assembly with the ultimate internal gate from ATP and weld on the clamp collar to my downpipe. I also have a .63 A/R turbine housing off a 240 to try if I think the .48 doesn't flow enough. Which, I think it will I have all custom oil and water lines that I have put together. Still need to weld the return line however. And fabricate a wastegate actuator bracket too.I also have an S60R manifold going in at the same time, to eliminate that cheesedick oem manifold from the picture completely. PullMyFinger
Is the S60R manifold a direct fit or do you have to do some modifications? The S60R manifold is a direct fit unless you have a '94 or '95 with EGR. Then you have to either bore and tap a hole, or defeat the EGR.
