Noahkk19
New Development:So I pull the plugs, I only check 3 and it looks like it hasn't even fired...So to compare to another I pull out spark plug 1 and it sure enough looks like it's fired...Spark plug 3 isn't even firing it looks like...Let's see if this picture can show you guys...Blurry but does the job...left one is cylinder 1 right one is cylinder
ziddey
you sure the cap and rotor are good?? wires in snug?
Noahkk19
Perfect...And what are the chances on this EARTH of only cylinder 3 not firing with a distributor rotor and wires off of a different car? And honestly the new ones I have on now are in perfect shape, the pictures tell all, brand new I'm confused :monkey:
Noahkk19
you sure the cap and rotor are good?? wires in snug?ok QUESTION...If I had absolutely no compression in cylinder 3...Would that cause there to be no spark? Or would I get a spark compression or no compression?
ziddey
what controls the signal to the ignition coil?does the volvo have a pickup coil or something of the like? maybe some other type of sensor?? camshaft position sensor?? Can you yank the entire dizzy from the other volvo and put it on?ok QUESTION...If I had absolutely no compression in cylinder 3...Would that cause there to be no spark? Or would I get a spark compression or no compression? You could try putting down a teaspoon ofmotor oil in the cylinder and see what happens

I took it off already, inspected it, cleaned it for the hell of it...BHAAHDSDAHADSHSDKlhaha, what will dropping a teaspoon of motor oil do? Hence the distributor since it has two jobs. The teaspoon of oil will restore compression if it's out due to flooding or whatnot (Is that even a word? Let me check the dictionary. No it's a not a word, I'm dumb!)
Noahkk19
Just did a check and it showed that the wire for cylinder 3 is firing
ziddey
Just did a check and it showed that the wire for cylinder 3 is firingstuff I'm sorry I forgot to mention to check that first. Basics first, right? Good job for doing that!!So that means the spark plug is going off. Cylinder was probably flooded. Drop some oil in it and give it a go and go for a spin. Probably needs to be cleared out

mike850r
do you have a ohm meter?...check for cont. on all the wires and resistance...i forget how many ohms they are supposed to be, broken plug wire?, and maybe some old school marvel mystery oil in that cylinder? Chris_R
Shouldn't that #3 plug be soaked with fuel if it's not firing? If it was firing without fuel I think it would look just like that one.You said you switched injectors, right?
Noahkk19
Yeah I did...Took it to the shop, they ran a compression test and the result is...NO COMPRESSION in cylinder 3... I just got drilled <_<
