turbomoose
So after searching for a nice S80 T6 I have found one. After reading a few threads about the T6's transmission failing, Im getting worried. Im thinking of the thousands of cars Volvo made... I wonder out of all of those cars, how many have failed. Are we talking about almost guaranteed failure like the ETM?! At least the ETM issue is now covered by Volvo for 200K miles. The S80 I have found is a 2001 with a build date of 01/01. It has 94K. The tranny fluid looks and smells fine. Im sure it has been changed. The car drives perfectly under all conditions.
ms007
The trans in a S80 T6 is a GM T65E baseIts a great trans, most of the problems that accure are related to the valve body that volvo doesn't sell seperate so you replace the trans for it :(

Finally replaced it at 110k. The car was an early model number within the first 10,000 built which seems to be the problem area. My dealer said they replaced several of the early model car trans. I think if the trans is good at the 94k it should not be in the problem group.
volvo4lif3
I wouldn't necessarily say that. I have an 01, and my tranny went at 99k miles. Anything is possible in terms of the s80 world. But just think, you will have a more comfortable car than any other 850 or s70 owner here on the board :o

turbomoose
Me too. I LOVE my 850. Im my opinion it is superior to the S80. Just feels better. But then I like the S80 too.
Voltron
oh i'd debate that all day long. Sorry, but you lose. The s80 is probably the most comfortable volvo I've been in. I love my interior, but the s80 is the same thing but bigger, which makes it a little more comfortable, imo. Been in your car Kev and it's not as comfortable, sorry. You can try as you might to change the discussion, but the car is comfortable. Your wallet may or may not be. Loozer

Voltron
I understand that comfort is relative but so far your whole argument has been it's reliablity or it's cost. Not once have you said why, or in your case why not, it's comfortable. I'm waiting....
