Help! Which Radar Detector?

Recommended Posts

I need a radar detector tomorrow before I drive to the IPD garage sale but I have no knowledge on the subject whatsoever. What should I buy? Any NW posters know where I can get the recommended model in seattle? Additionally, I did not know where to put this post so if a Mod wants to move it...

Well, for this drive, as long as you stick with the pack, we have a few Valentine 1's floating around to keep us safe :) But, in general, Valentine 1's, K40's, Passports, anything with radar/laser detection is a pretty good detector.

Check out the pinned thread for the "Police Countermeasures", 2 of the mods on here are installing The K40 Calibre systems in their car which are stealth, as well as laser jamming :) Nice looking kit, but $$$$$.

Just come to Bay Valve tomorrow around 5pm if you want to caravan down to Portland with us. The address is:

4385 So. 133rd St

Seattle, WA 98168

Take the Interurban exit off of I-5 S, turn right at the light onto Interurban, go to the 2nd stop light (133rd St.) and turn left, Bay Valve is 2 blocks away on the left :)

Not trying to flame but radar jammers, ect don't even do anything. Im a cop and a master laser/radar instructor here in hawaii and we've tested many models. If you want a expensive piece of plastic that makes pretty sounds though i'd say go for it.

they sure work great if you want to find the nearest police station though. mine always goes off near our stations, or parked cars. do police radars come with an off switch? :)

but seriously, do you mean they are not good at finding radar period, or not finding it in time to avoid getting caught? i sincerly believe i have seen at least 90% of the radars that i've enountered, but never been in a postion to be caught. just lucky - for 25 years. just wondering.

And he's right. Pre-made "store bought" jammers won't do jack.

To be honest I haven't tested any for about 2 years now but I tested a ton of them before and none of them did anything but make noises. We tested a few radar jammers and other stuff on a few different phantom and kustom guns and stationary systems and they did practically nothing.

Got a better idea instead of wasting money on a useless piece of plastic spend it on some kinda other interior/exterior mod. and just do the speed limit.
