elfnmagik
Quick question. Has anyone used a dial-indicator to check front brake rotors? I'm trying to determine how to secure the rotor with proper torque using the wheel lugs. Without the wheel, the lugs protrude too far into the hub causing contact on the backside which prevents the rotor from being spun to check. I have tried using some flat metal spacers that have holes drilled, but the lug's beveled profile kinda eats into them and I never get secure torque. Am I correct in understanding that complete/correct pressure needs to be applied to the rotor, like when the wheel is mounted to ensure correct measurement? Yellow95
Take onof of your lug bolts to Home Depot and get 3 or 4 shorter bolts that are the same thread size.Gary
Guest Guest
I guess it wouldn't matter that they would not be conical near the head since the rotor hat is flat anyway.
Seamus
"Has anyone used a dial-indicator to check front brake rotors?" Do you check the pressure in a blown tyre?? If the rotors are warped replace them....

That is why a dial indicator is used to first check the hub flange, and then by indexing the rotor to the hub using the indicator to find the position that will give the least runout. By the way, all four rotors are brand new.
