Trunks850R
you dont need a real hoist. just bolt up a come-along to a rafter in your garage ceiling. it should work the same way, just hook it up and crank it out of the car. we did it to an old 700 series car when we swaped the motor.havent you ever used a oak tree? its been done a many times(not by me, but you learn plenty of tricks workin in shops with good ol boys)
grocerygetter
Noah, I know a good mechanic north of the city but it sounds like your cars not in traveling shape. Other than that I wouldnt mind helping you out either. I have probably all the tools you need minus a torque wrench, I have to get a new one, dont ask. Also I want to help just to learn. I am finally getting my car back today to the tune of about 2K from a warped head and valve job.

Noahkk19
K guys...Been making very marginal progress, going place to place whenever I see a shop and getting prices. Everything seems to be around $3,500 to have the engine pulled and fixed. One shop even mentioned for that price I might as well get a new engine. But upon going to Highland Automotive they said it'd be over $1,000 less which is very good to hear. But now I'm thinking it could possibly be fixed for even less if there's a burnt valve and really the engine just needs to be taken to a shop and machined. Just giving an update in hope that you guys know a good mechanic that won't over charge for something that another shop has to do. Taking the car directly to a machine shop would be great but then there's the fact that I'd be putting the car in a non-Volvo mechanic's hands. Suggestions, thoughts?
