pfeener
Anyone ever use the R134 with stop leak. Does it work for sealing up those pesky little leaks that cause you to recharge every year? Does it cause any problems? Also I see R134 synthetic which is a little confusing because I don't see any R134 occuring naturally in nature anyway. What's the difference? Can I use either one? Is the synthetic any better or just marketing?
MadeInJapan
Stop leak will work for slight leaks but will also gunk up your entire A/C system so best advice is to avoid it. The synthetic stuff just seems to be a sales gimmick to me. Best is to buy the cheapest, regular R134A. If you want to diagnose your system further, you can get the stuff with dye in it. Then after a day or so of running your A/C, use a black light under your car to see where the leak is and then fix the cause...not just cover up the issue with a bad fix such as stop-leak. pfeener
Thanks MIJ. That's kind of what I thought, meaning the stop leak stuff is like the coolant stop leak; it'll fix your leak but generate more problems down the line.
Jaxx
hmm.. my father got me some, and I don't think he would if it was "bad" since he is a licensed HVAC technician...
Evil E
If there is a leak- fix it. Covering it up temporarily won't make it go away.
