rp850
Thinking about replacing my trusty SC-811 with a single DIN radio. The question is I'm wondering what to do with the empty space under the radio. Gauges, CD holder? I'd like to keep things looking as OEM as possible. What have you all done? Post some pics!! AnthonyR
If you want an OEM look, get the Volvo pocket (you'd have to search for the part number)When I had a single din radio, at first I had a pocket and later on I had my old Kenwood PNP Sirius tuner that I fashioned the dock into a nice single din mount. rp850
Yeah, I could do that but the empty pocket to me just looks unfinished. What do you think of this?I figure it's cheap and no one will want to steal it... 96PlatinumEdition850
I put a metra din pocket in the top section since I have a 7inch touch screen it covers the pocket. It's good for putting CD's in since it hold 3 CD cases. I was thinking about fabricating a place for my boost gauge but I'm happy with the pocket. Later I might put in a CD changer in but the pocket is a quick fix for the empty space.
rp850
There's nothing wrong with going the pocket route and I sure could use the storage. I'm just not crazy about the look. The same company that makes the CD drawers also makes a single DIN storage drawer too that looks kinda nice. Might be an option.I just want something that gets better reception than my SC-811 but looks as OEM as possible. I was actually going to put an old Alpine cassette deck in there that can control my CD changer. I put a metra din pocket in the top section since I have a 7inch touch screen it covers the pocket. Post some pics!!Try the Volvo parts department. They were able to order one for my 2002 S40 eventhough single DIN was not an option in the USA. It matches perfectly. If all else fails you could probably order the one for the S40 and it may match fairly well. If you don't have a harness, Metra also makes this for your vehicle.
ralter
in a 2001 volvo s40 are the wiring harness and the metra pocket the only thing you would need (no kit for the HU itself?)?
Owned
There should not be anything specific to the HU that is required and not provided along with the HU. If you feel something is missing, double check that you have everything you should have with your HU's instruction booklet.
