Über855R
Okay wide band 02 sensor, do I only need to install one for the a/f ratio guage. What about the stock 02 sensors, do they need to be replaced with a different sensor as well. Would the cars ecu respond better to a wb sensor or is the stock one the only one that will work with the cars ecu. Seems to me a more accurate signal sent to the ecu makes for better corrections to the mixture. Catch Can. I have seen the install write on up volvospeed. Nice picture, no help. I have read all the other things I could find in searchs, still lost. I am sure that other people want some help with this thing too so can some one please give me some very idiot proof instructions to install a catch can.If these questions sound stupid to you then you are the one I want to hear from. Take a minute to explain WELL so that I wont have to ask stupid questions about this subject again.
Mesoam
wb02 sensor is seperate...you need to weld another bung inhttp://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?s...=48262&hl=catchmy way is the "cleanest" way...no possibility for a CEL...
freeskier8585
depends on what co you go with. with a zeitronix unit you can splice from the wbo2 signal for the car, but it is much easier to weld in a new bung and run the wbo2 seperate, only problem ive had is finding a solid rpm signal. As for the catch can, i think the best way to install it is to just splice it inline to the largest pcv line. I ran my no vent and it still collected alot of oil. One day ill hook it up again, but for now lazyness has taken its nasty hold, and thus the project waits. the underlørd
and you'll end up running 3 O2 sensors...
freeskier8585
where's our stock wideband o2 sensor?the unit has a narrow band switch, allowing you to use one wbo2, wideband allows for wb readouts, while the narrow swtch lets you hook it up to the car for the ecu, i didnt do it like this, i just read about it
Über855R
and you'll end up running 3 O2 sensors...3 02 sensors, no problem. What about the stock sensors? Is there a need to replace them with WB or should they only be replaced if there is something wrong with them? So what I am understanding is, One wb sensor for the A/F guage the rest stay stock? What about installing a WB instead of the stock sensor before the catlytic converter, can I use that signal for the cars o2 reading as well?About the Catch can. Does the manifold need to be removed? Is that only if you are replacing the pcv at the same time? How can you diagnose if the pcv needs to be replaced? Is tying on to the line without removing the intake manifold possible? Thanks for the help guys

PullMyFinger
About the Catch can. Does the manifold need to be removed? Is that only if you are replacing the pcv at the same time? How can you diagnose if the pcv needs to be replaced? Is tying on to the line without removing the intake manifold possible? Thanks for the help guysI personally think the JAZ catch can is a piece of crap. Its too small, it has a vent on top thats useless for our application, the drain valve is too small and clogs rendering it useless and the inlet/outlet fittings leak if your lucky and break if you aren't. I ran this can for a while and it was nothing but a mess, just wrong. You could plumb in the catch can without removing the intake manifold if your pcv is in good shape and the hose is not cracked. I personally prefer to completely replace the line coming out the top of the pcv tank and run it to the catch can and then into the intake. Here are a couple pics of my install:I don't really care for the shiny blingbling can but it fits the bill very well and is priced right. Has a sight tube for level check, an easy access o-ringed anodized aluminum cap and a threaded boss at the bottom for a drain if you so desire. It comes plugged. I just use a turkey baster every couple months to succu-vacc the contents, easy squeezy.
cranky
Should the catch can be positioned lower than the hose coming from the block?I'm getting ready to pull my intake and remove the stock collection tank, and I'll probably buy, or build, a new one. I had wondered where to put it so that it can be serviced. In my mind I figured I would put one lower than the opening from the block, and then the line going from it, goes up to the intake. Anything between the can and the engine, drains into the can, anything between it and the intake drains backwards into the can. What do you think?
