Volvo Virgin
So....I was washing my car yesterday and I had my keys lying on the front seat.Somehow I accidently set the alarm and locked the keys in the car.I was at my house so I went inside and got the spare keys.I have the valet key and an extra coded key from the dealer.Neither one would open the door.I've never used the keys to open the doors in the 1.5 yrs I've owned the car,so I'm not even sure if they turn clock wise or counter-clockwise to unlock, but either way I turned them nothing happened.I finally had to go in thru the trunk, and the freakin alarm didn't even go off. What's the deal?I'm going to go out and test the alarm later today, but what has gone bad that the keys don't work in the door? The exterior lock mechanism in the door appears to be electric and not mechanical,so is it as simple as replacing($$$$$$$)that? dmelviØØ7
Sounds like a latch, I see them go out all the time. They are pretty easy to replace too.
Volvo Virgin
Wouldn't a latch be just one specific door?None of the doors would unlock. No matter how much I turned the key in the door......nothing.No noises like it was trying to unlock. No subtle twitching of the lock knobs. It was as if there was no power at all to the lock mechanism.I was thinking maybe relay or fuse, but it appears that there is only one fuse for the door locks and that looks good, and the locks are working fine from the interior master control and from the fob.So that brings me back to the lock mechanism itself? Edit:I just locked myself in the car,set the alarm, and tested it.That seems to work fine when I open the door. But the alarm doesn't go off when I set it and open the trunk.2 seperate problems between the door lock mechanism and alarm? Can't find diddly on SEARCH either. Chris3551
Same thing going on with my 99 s80. Non-working lock mech. I just tried to unlock with the key and it doesn't work. Hope the battery keeps alive on the remote. Wondering if there is an solution.
