Dealer Service Schedule 60,000 Miles.

Recommended Posts

Here is what my dealership does for a 60K for about $525:

Oil Change

Air Filter

Cabin Air Filter

Plugs w/compression check

Cap & Rotor

Throttle body Clean

Coolant Flush

Brake Bleed

Fuel Fliter

Flame Trap

Now we check and try to sell you:

Worn or broken suspension components

Check PCV if clogged recommend cleaning

Tranny Fluid

Serp Belt

Brakes

Tires

Well pretty much anything else you can think of. And I am only speaking for myslef here, but if it is not broken or not ready to be replaced I am not going to recommend it. If it needs to be replaced soon, but is not urgent I will make a note of that also. I am a big fan of what goes around comes around and believe that you screw people, you will also get screwed.

3K for me on the oil change. 10K is like way to long IMO :D

As I recall some of those guys that never changed their oil had the PCV blow up on them. :(

Just ask echristodo, he had an 850 Turbo, before he got that nice S70 T5

i think the OEM ignition components have been seen to surpass 100k with no problems at all...that is distributor, rotor, leads...not that I would do that.

thats nuts. i guess it depends ont he oil and the type of driving, or someone who smaples oil...etc. i check my oil every week, change it every 3k.

I just did the above mentioned stuff last night with about 110K miles and believe it or not it was the first time on all of the stuff...I be even the plugs, not my life , but I bet.

Runs much better but everything I pulled looked pretty good. Normal driving for the last 40K or so. Oil should be done every 3K or less just for longevity sake.

hey guys,

as long as you're discussing maintenance intervals stuff maybe you'll answer my question:

each time I'm changing oil I ask my independent Volvo mechanic

if the ATF has to be flushed but he says there's no need -

it still looks good, he says, and he does check it out...

I drive the car for over 20k miles/almost two years.

when should I ask him to do it?

what type of fluide to use?

thanks

change it.. the fluid should be nice and pink/red.. and not smell burned.. you can use Mobil 3309.

  • 2 weeks later...

hey man, thanks for the advice

my mechanic wonna charge me for the transmission flush&Mobile 3309 like $260...

is it okay price?

thanks

A little pricey. I got mine changed out with the redline stuff (not sure how it compares to the mobil 3309) over at Nordic for about $75 for parts and labor.

do you have to go to dealer? Just find an independant shop. Usually they are twice cheaper and more often they don't try to rip you off everywhere like dealers do. And if you find a good shop, they'll do the job just as good.

I'm doing it at an independent shop, and think they're alright - quitteg going to the dealer many years ago :o)

but thanks for the advise.

the car has now like 150k, I drive it for last 20k and I can't find any records of tranny services...

a bit afraid of doing a flush.

hey Alex, how are you doing, man? long time no see :o)

what's Nordic?

I think there's a difference between change and flush... that's why the huge difference in price.

I've got my price from the Scandia in Sunnyvale - they're nice, professional and not extremely expensive.

also, not the last thing - I live nearby.

but I recently started a new job in Menlo Park and it wouldn't be a problem for me to come

to a garage that's located closer to SF.

tell me, where are you going for this kind of work in your area?

my good old mechanic switched to be a real estate agent - can you believe it? I still can't

and I'm trying to figure out where to do stuff cause I don't have any place to do it myself...

thanks
