Another Speaker Question

I read through the pinned section and found the topic of speaker sizes everyone is using. It seamed that a good many folks had success with 5x7 "dropping right in", replacing the rear shelf speakers. My question is if this refers to the speaker being mounted in the factory pod cases that sit atop the shelf, or mounting them flush in the shelf itself. I've never really looked at them closely so I didn't know whether they are a factory sealed type enclosure that couldn't be disassembled or just a case/cover for any speaker that would fit.

I've thinking about having the Eclipse SE 8355 (5.25 3-way) and the SE 8375 (5x7) in the rear installed from Circuit City and wanted to know what to tell them before they started. Thanks.

Run away, as fast as you can.

Go to a REAL audio shop. Circuit City and Best Buy don't usually do the best jobs.

I concur. Would it be wishfull thinking to assume they can pull the speakers and replace them? It is something I normally would tackle, but I am up gainst the wall with other projects now and would just as soon they be put in right there.

I'm an installer at circuit city and I do the best job I can everytime! While it's good to research how your installation is going to work before you have it done, a pro will go over the process with you if you just ask. You don't have to blindly submit your installation request and hope they do well. Work WITH them. Personally, I love it when the car owner hangs around so that when little detail questions come up they're right there. Make sure to make an appointment!

As far as Best Buy goes... my friend Jackie had her stereo stolen out of her her 2001 mazda protoge sometime before xmas. the thieves pryed out the dash kit along with the sereo, and left all the original wiring in tact. well, she went to best buy yesterday to have her new pioneer HU put in, and they told her it would cost about $200, and wouldn't be able to be done today.

So she came to me. Not only did she only spend $(undisclosed amount cuz im awesome), but it took about 7 minutes. We would've charged her 55 labor, 45 parts.

Anyways, that's all I have to say about that.

But besides going to a shop, I HIGHLY recommend DIY w/assistance from a friend who really knows what's up. You'll learn, and be overjoyed that you did it yourself! it's how i got started!

Someone can confirm this before I buy a 6" x 9" set
