C70 Oem + Alpine 5 Channel

OK, quick question. I remember reading that an Alpine v12 will drop in as a replacement for my 2001 C70 OEM 4x100 amp but give me the 5th channel to run to my sub, Question is where can I get a harness to hook it up or does anyone know the easiest way to do this? Finally is there a newer alpine amp that will work or is the V12 the best for this application?

Are you talking about the MRA-D550 Digital amp? Why not just run a dedicated amp for the subs?

I want to use stock SC-901 headunit and I have a powered Infinity sub now but I am having to use speaker lever (high) inputs because the stock amp does not have a low level RCA out put. Also, I figured I can get a bit better sound with the v12 as the amp seems to have a few more watts and will allow me to better adjust the crossovers to the current stock speakers.

NO promises for sure as to whether or not it will "drop in" to the stock location, but the amp you're looking for is the Alpine MRV-F450. It's been around for a couple years but is still the best choice from Alpine as it's basically identical to the stock amp except for the fifth channel (Alpine made Volvo's stock amp). If you're not planning to change anything else on your C, just to add a sub channel, that's the way to go because the built-in crossover network will siphon off all the low frequencies BEFORE they get to the rest of the system and send them all to the sub. There's an MRV-F450 sitting in my garage, and a Dynaudio MW-190 12" sub waiting to be powered by that fifth channel. As for the harness, I bought a DIN-to-RCA adapter from Slater that should allow me to just move the plugs over. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have time to do the install before my wife has our next kid (end of this month) and/or I deploy (end of next month) so this project may have to wait a bit. If you do a SEARCH, you'll find a recent discussion on this exact subject in this forum from just a few months ago between me and another dude who was contemplating the same thing.

I am the other dude Jon is talking about. I also have the same alpine amp Jon does, I just have not had time to swap it out. I will say that using one of slater adapters to install my alpine HU to work with the stock amp and speakers made a real difference. I plan on getting another adapter to use in the back betwen the 5 ch. alpine and the stock harness so I can retain all stock speaker leads.

All you need is a 4-6 channel version of this:

I sell this adapter for $14. Four channel, $16 and so on...

All you have to do is plug the stock amp cable into the DIN Jack and the RCAs to the amp. The red wire is the remote amp turn on signal from the stock headunit.
