Aux Input - 850 Stock Radio

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 1995 Volvo 850.

It's got the standard radio with the cassette deck (I don't know which number it is), but I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about!

I figured that since it's got the input for the cd changer, there must be a way to wire something in there and get an auxiliary input (so I can plug my iPod!).

I have looked around in the forum but did not find this information, so I am asking if anyone knows how it can be done (either with an adapter, or just with the pinout of the cd changer plug or something like that).

Thanks a lot!

I'm new to the forum (and a new Volvo owner!) and the forum is really cool guys, keep it up!

Ask drlava, I think it was him who PM'ed me about an aux in. I'm in the same situation, but with a Creative Jukebox, not an iPod. For now I just use the tape deck with it.

hi, I can still make them if you're interested. I still have enough parts laying around. and yes, you can change the volume while listening to it.

here is what I said before..

Aha. more interest in this subject. yes, I'm the guy that builds the dongle with the microcontroller programmed to fool the radio into thinking there is a cd changer there. and yes, that link was to to my computer to a picture I made for people like you! I am selling these units - $55 ea for the basic, + $12 for the serial communications to laptop feature and + $12 for the switchable dual-inputs (one of which can be a CD-changer bypass for aftermarket cd changers). Yes, it IS more complicated than just shorting some wires. The alpine Mbus protocol must be followed, and in some cases it's been modified to help prevent aftermarket solutions. The SC-811 is plain ol Mbus.

I used mine to control a laptop-based jukebox from the buttons on the head unit but there are many options.

Feel free to email or PM with questions.

if you want more info, search for ipod and pinout on this forum.
