Alpine Chm-s620 In '98 V70

I'm trying to install an alpine chm-s620 in my newly purchased '98 v70 (yes, I'm new to the volvo club), and wondering if I will need the VOLIL adaptor (where can I find this at a good price) and whether or not the car is prewired for a changer. I pulled the head unit out of the dash, and the CD changer wire was already there, but not connected. I followed it a little bit, and it takes a turn into the dash and to the left, but I have no idea where it would come out. I've looked in the trunk a bit, but haven't had any luck. If the car is prewired, where can I find the other end (Changer end) of the cable?

sorry for the noob question. I searched, but couldn't find many specifics on it. also, if you have a picture, it would be great. thanks!

If you lift up the left floor panel in the rear cargo area of your wagon, there should be a recessed compartment there that is large enough to contain a CD changer and you should find the other end of the Volvo changer cable there (this is the factory Volvo position for the changer in wagons). If you do a search in the audio section, I think there are a few threads that have pictures.

Sometimes changers are also mounted to the inside of the floor panel access door of the rear cargo area. You might also find the unconnected changer cable floating around inside there with the spare tire.

If you're installing an Alpine MBus changer, it won't be compatible with the stock Volvo 8-pin DIN cable and you won't need it for the installation anyways.

With the Alpine CHM-620 changer, you will need the VOLIL adapter (or an equivalent) and the long MBus cable that came with the Alpine changer. You can try PM'ing crazyKN and he may be able to make you an adapter that is less expensive than the VOLIL.
