96PlatinumEdition850
What is the best tool to use? I can't get my rachet in there because of the firewall. I took the firewall that lays on top of the turbo off but the other part of the firewall that is against the engine I can't get off because of the intercooler piping, it blocks me from getting the last bit of the screw out to take off the firewall. I've been using a 3/8 wrench because I don't have a 10mm wrench and it's hell. Anyone got anything I can do? I'm losing light outside... TorqueSteer
You may need to put the car on ramps, remove the turbo inlet hose and use the smallest 10mm wrench you can find, dont overtighten the bolts when your putting block off plate on, they easily strip. 96PlatinumEdition850
Yup I saw I could take the inlet house off but I'm sure the ratcheting wrench would be nicer and quicker. Costs a little bit but it'll make it easier.
TorqueSteer
Remember that the head of a ratchet wrench is larger than a standard wrench, I honestly can't remember what its like down there, but the thing that sticks in my mind is the smaller the wrench the better. Zappo
I just changed my CBV last week. It is far easier to get the other 2 bolts out from under the car.

I took the UPICP off and also welded a rod to a wrench so I could get to the top bolt. Ratcheting wrenches are a life saver though.
Brickster151
Racheting wrenches do kick ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD when performing this job.Don't forget to RTV the surface of the blockoff plate that meets the turbo before installing it. 96PlatinumEdition850
Resourceful ehh Greg, well tomorrow is a new day. The BOV is already on so I guess it'll be a funny sounded BOV while they are both venting but oh well. I'll bust out the ramps and a ratcheting wrench tomorrow. Thanks for the tips guys.
