akskibum82
My 94 854 T has been randomly stalling for about a year.. not much of a prob except I manage to block traffic on occasion. Any idea what the prob could be. most often occurs when i am facing downhill and not on the gas pedal. I replaced the plugs with platnum +4 plugs but the problem pursists. could it be a fuel pump? my indie mechanic is useless so any help is good, thanks. TL2
My '94 855T (97k mi) stalled on me for the first time today after a short three minute trip to 7-11. After buying a drink I started the car, and then sat in stunned disbelief as the car simply died. I tried again, but this time nothing but the sound of the starter chugging away. I let it sit (in case I had flooded it) and after a few minutes, the car started up fine and drove like normal. Any ideas? Recent work, for the record... tranny flush, new K&N panel filter, pollen filter mod, brakes/rotors, rear shocks, tires.
jda2000
lots of folks have had problems with platinum plugs in turbos. Go back to volvo brand or at least Bosch Super copper electrode plugs. Then, clean all the ground connectors and finally get a spare fuel pump relay and replace the old one with it.It's always a good idea to keep a spare fuel pump relay in the glove box, you never know when it will come handy. :P
IOPTURBO
I agree with the above statement about the fuel pump relay. also change your fuel filter.
brickbat
I had intermittent stalling on our 96 turbo. It was worst in hot weather, when the car was idling. Turned out to be a sticking evap purge valve. The valve would stick open, and the mixture would go so rich it'd stall out the engine. If you notice a hissing sound from the front left wheel well just before a stall, that's the problem.
