Pete D Posted June 24, 2004 Report Share Posted June 24, 2004 IIRC, Someone was saying that some R's and 854TLA's came with amp's hooked up to the SC-815. I thought they said that there was a connection coming out of the back of the HU to the amp. I pulled out my HU and all the plugs had stuff plugged in. I know some SC-815's in certain cars came with an external amp from the factory. Like this one. I was hoping someone could tell me how I could find out if my car had this external amp. Any Radio with premium sound on it has a built in amp, some cars are also equipped with an external amp, the Sc 900/901 needs an amp to work. The 850R/Platinum edition 96 all have external amps. potroast Posted July 1, 2004 Report Share Posted July 1, 2004 I believe an external amplifier has been an option in all 850 models and higher. Both my 93 and 94 850's (854 and 855, respectively) had the dealer option of an external amplifier. You will know you have this by the presence of a plug in the "AMP" recepticle on your head unit.
