Ideal Wheel Size For 850

Thinking about getting some wheels and wondering the exact size/offset for ideal setup with 18's. So far I am thinking something around 18x8 I think offset should be between 34 and 42 but I would like some opinions on 18x7.5 and different offset and spacer options with either size. Right now I am running 225-40-18 and get some bad rubs on my 18x8 wheels. I know this has been talked about over and over and I have read plenty believe me. Just saying ideal setup for minimal rubs and maximum tire area. Opionions please I am thinking about getting some expensive wheels and only want to do it once.

I know nobody gives a shizit, but I am running 18x7.5 with a 43mm offset. They are just right up front, but sat too far in on the rear for my likeing. I installed 15mm spacers in the rear and they look perfect. I am running 215/40-18's but I wish they were a tad wider. I have absolutely no rubbing issues of any kind accept when I pass out and wake up to zuluking rubbing my crotch asking me to take him for a ride in my mustang. That kinda kreeps me out.

Except for the last part that is the exact kind of info I am looking for. Sounds like a good setup. No rubbing at all? Do you think you could go 225 on the tires and still avoid rubs? Whats your suspension setup?

Totally stock suspension. The 225 would easily fit in the back, but the front would probably slightly rub on the lip under heavy load. Could be done, but I didnt want the hassle. May go a tad wider on the rear next time (purely for asthetics).

I think wider in the rear is bad for handleing on fwd. But if you like the looks and dont care then it might look cool. Stock suspension doesn't tell me much about your setup. Can anybody confirm no rubs on a lowered car with that size and setup?

Ben, if you get KW's... you cna pretty much eliminate all rear rubbing..

my shit rubbed like MAD in the rear with springs, but with the KW's.. rear rubbing is a thing of the past.

yep

on a FWD car, wide rear + narrow front = more understeer

and God knows Volvos don't need any more of that :D

Thicker front swaybars and heavier front springs will have the same effect.

I don't really get rubs in the back. The front on the other hand. I really want to minimize rubs so 7.5 is the way to go, what is the ideal offset?
