Diy Urethane Bushings

Recommended Posts

Nice, Wish you'da posted it :P Did you have to press it in? The mount is subject to a lot of torque movement

We did, here:

its been done before for about $2 in parts

The old rubber was ground out with a dremel, and the new bushings fit in with with a little pressure: nothing a good vice or even a strong person can't do. I put large flat washers above and below (see pics) to keep them from slipping out, although I highly doubt they would have even without the washers!

very nice. creativity is good!!

what about making forms to pout the material in to dry?

You could make a mold or whatever if you had something to mold from. Yes this is how I plan to make other mounts as they fail. It will work.

I thought about using existing poly pieces but I wanted the metal bolt pipe in the middle and I wanted the bolt hole to be in the same place as stock noticing that it wasn't perfectly verticle. Thanks for the extra info I didn't see that post when searching for poly and mount etc...if it works then it works, Id like some poly swaybar bushings too please as I have a friend who wants me to poly up his broken one. Do you have a cheaper 2$ solution for the lower torque mount because I have to do another one of those also.

i've never had one in my hands .. but if someone would be willing to send me some parts i'm sure i could ghetto up something to fit .. tho i have to say slaters parts are very pimp

I agree they are super pimp. I plan on taking the money I saved and purchasing some. I already did my lower torque mounts by filling in around the stock rubber. Because of the torque these parts see I was more comfortable using the poly that will conform to the part, but if your top mount works I might put some faith in insert pieces for the lower torque mount. I'm not good at taking pictures but I'm trying to change that. If I find poly pieces that will press in I'll post it. How do I close a thread?...

I stuck off-the-shelf endlink urethane bushings in there instead, it's a little easier than filling it with uncured urethane, but more power to ya for doing it this way.

Did those work pretty well?
