Fng & Questions About Dry Shot Of Nitrous On 05 S60r

I am not worried about the actual installation. My buddies who would help me (well I would pretty much watch) both have 100 shots on their GTO's and Mustang's. They have also done setups for other people I know, all of which have had zero issues.

My worry is that the ECU is to smart on the P2's.

I guess this is another concern. I will be installing the Aquamist here shortly. I can't imagine it having an effect with nitrous but is this a "no, no" that I should be aware of?

I am worried that the aquamist may promote puddling of the mixture. Another concern with a dry shot is that the ecu may just lower the duty cycle of the injectors if it senses higher fuel pressure somehow, just a thought.

I thought it might have an impact. I can't imagine water in the cylinder with nitrous being a good idea. I guess I could have a switch that shuts off the Aquamist when the nitrous is turned on but that might be to much. Then again there are people that run meth kits with supercharges and also run nitrous.

I have been informed that the ECU is very touchy. I guess it is time to go to the source of that information. I will report back on Monday. Thanks all for the help so far.

Ok here is the deal. If you want to run nitrous I woulSd run a wet system triggered off a wot switch and Rpm. Nitrous on at 4000 rpm and at wot. Its very easy to wire a setup like that. Now since 99% of people do not run a standalone there isnt much you can do in the computer. The correct way to run this setup would be to run a dry shot with the computer being able to pull out timing and add injector duty cycle. If you wanted to try and run a dry shot on the car with just adding a bigger injector you will always be running rich. So just put a wet system on there and make SURE you install everything correctly and go back and double check everything. Once you have done that, I would like you to run a step colder plug. The first time that you spray you Bneed to be on the dyno with a wideband hooked up. As long as fuelng doesnt go about 12.7 to 12.8 you should be fine. 12.0-12.5 is a good place to be. Also log timing, see if it pulls back. I would love to see a device that would be able to log knock. A normal knock light is kinda useless and you cannot program the Knock curve in voltage. So watch your ignition timing. That said I would not run anytihng bigger than a 50 shot. Do it slow and make sure you watch everything while you gather your first bits of data.

Now talking about Methanol and nitrous. I run that setup on my S2000 with 12.5:1 compression pistons. I also run on a standalone so things can be controlled correctly. Methanol is great to use and what you would want to do is get a wet system from Nx or NOS,whichever you want. Then you use the fuel inlet on the nozzel for methanol which is controll by a device that will trigger it once the correct conditions permit. You will have to use a different solenoid for the meth. The reason I have to use methanol is because even injecting more fuel through injector pulse its not the correct way to control knock. Basicly I will have a tread out very soon giving a full writeup and info on this type of setup. Im doing it on a NA car but overall compressions are going to be high so need of octane is required with bigger shots.

That answered most of my questions. Thank you.

Stupid question but why not chip?

/Mike

Edit: Instead of Nitrous, pretty new/expensive car.

I plan on a chip but it is still in production. The chip is expected to put 325 hp & 350 ft lbs of torque to the wheels with a down pipe & catback. It should be out in a month or two. It will be that or I will go with the IPD flash (soon to be softloader) and a shot of nitrous. I am exploring my options right now. From the sound though nitrous might be more than I want to get into. I really enjoy tracking my car so I think the chip is the route I am going to do. Later after the luster of that speed has worn off I will probably go for the nitrous. God I love this car! :D

the dealer's tech can detect the chip. With that being said it could void your powertrain warrenty. btw what chip are you looking at that claims 325/350 at the wheel? And if you put nitrous on the engine I KNOW it will void your warrenty (branded in the computer at all volvo dealers)

The best option for you is the BSR PPC -> http://www.bsrab.se/products/n39/t406/ I think you have a US dealer.

You can easy make it stock when going to a dealer and you will have the power gain all the time, not for a few sec like nitrous.

Yea, We have to pay to play right. I already have springs and sway bars installed so there went my warranty on the suspension. The chip is from Batlground, they are a tuner that has recently become involved in the volvo market. More than likely I will stick with the IPD chip because it is going to be a soft loader and my dealer is realitvely friendly to mods  and IPD is very repitable.

I wanted to do the dry shot mainly due to the ease of hidding it and removing it from the dealer if things do go south. Just trying to find that happy medium. Once the warranty is up, (currently 21k) I will go with a true FMIC and a wet shot. For now though I have taken it all in small steps and my dealer has done the work so they are comfortable with what I have done.
