wattsat
The Sub Box I had made for the trunk is now finished. I am very pleased with the look, fit and finish of the box. The best thing about this box is that it takes up minimal trunk space. It is significantly better than the previous box I had built.
Guest UnsanePyro
Looks nice, thats where I was thinking about putting mine, when the time comes, least obtrusive spot in the trunk it seems.Edit: Hide that wire <_<
wattsat
Yeah, I was in a hurry when I picked it up and I have not properly routed the speaker wire. The box is made from 3/4" MDF, the inside is lined with Resin. Makes for a very tight sealed box.If people are interested, I could inquire with the builder about making more. Bing_0
looks great, how do you have it secured? b
PyROZen
Just a tip, but instead of using screws to get you box to stay in one spot, go to home depot and buy the industrial strength velcro! Tear the 2 pieces apart and throw the fuzzy one away and stick the side with the hooks under your box. This has kept my box stationary of months. And in you do want to take it out, just pull and the velcro unsticks. Just something i discovered over the years/.
Serge
Looks good! How do you access the light bulb panel? Gotta move the box I assume. Still nice though.
wattsat
looks great, how do you have it secured?instead of using screws to get you box to stay in one spot,At the moment it is not secured, but the fit is tight enough that it does not move. They were going to use screws, but I did not like that idea. I probably will use Velcro to help keep it in place, or use a strap since there is a nice strap point right there. freeskier8585
forget screws, bolt that shitz to the frame, then silicone all the stuff down below, if you need to take it out then you can unbolt it, i had to do this after mine came crashing all over the place
Guest Guest_V Tuning 850
Wow I like that box, and would like one. Is it big enough space to fit a JL Audio W3D4 12" sub? Is that space big enough? I might have someone make me a box like that, then I would have space in the car.
freeskier8585
have you guys ever tied mounting a sub in the pass through? i want to try, but im in shithole virginia and i dont have my car for a while
wattsat
Are you talking about the center armrest in the Back seat?If so, I mounted a Kicker Free Air 12" in that location in my Maxima. I would do so again in this car, but I do not want to loose the useability of the fold down seats.
Mesoam
i too love the idea of the passthrough spot....but a few probs crossed my mind..that plastic isn't to tough, it would have to be re-enforced some how. Also you loose that part of the fold down
wattsat
When I made mine for my Maxima, I had a board that streaced the lenght of the back seat and mounted to vertical seams on each side of the car. The mount was very strong and used the space on each side to mount my amps.Worked very well, but as I said, I will never give up the ability to fold down the rear seats. That is just too useful. prasamin
that is a great spot practically speaking, but if you want a little deeper base and more "even" sound, then you may want to face that JL towards the back of the car, as in where these installers conventionally put the subs. However, that said, that is a good spot if you need to save space in the trunk, and JL's are good, loud speakers, so you'll get the sound you're looking for. out of curiousity, what kind of amp are you running and do you have an aftermarked deck or factory?
