Guest Guest_brick8
I am trying to attach an alpine cd changer to the factory headunit using the crutchfield volalp adaptor. Everything going ok, but I need to splice into a source of constant 12V power. Which wire should I use? I have the factory SC-810 headunit and a 1993 850GLT. Thanks. prasamin
usually solid red wire is a constant 12V power supply. For my Delphi XM unit, I wanted an ignition source, but since I was too dumb to find one, I went with a constant 12V on the back of the main factory head unit for now....solid red wire
maiku
you should go with an ignition source, so you don't drain your batterythe ACC wire in the radio harness works well enough
potroast
my changer had 2 requirements, ACC and +12V. The first was so that it'd play cds, and the second provided continuous power so I could eject the cartridge without having to turn on the car. I highly recommend you use +12V and not only the ACC.Where are you mounting the changer? I have mine mounted under the passenger seat, and there is +12V and ACC from the power-seats.
