Noahkk19
I have always noticed but only mentioned to a few VS members. My turbo is so poking loud, yet has no BOV and does not seem to be bigger than a 15g. It is loud enough to the point where the sound of the turbo spooling up fills the cabin and once it hits boost you hear all the air being sucked along with a nice mix of the actual turbo whine as if the turbo were right under my steering wheel. (trying to give an idea of how loud it is) and of course when I am in boost and let off of it the second I'm making no boost you hear the pressure release sound a nice, pffffffft. It sounds like heaven, but I'm wondering, am I missing some plate that blocks the sound of my turbo? If so, more people should because my 94 850 turbo made NO where was much noise as this one. It's also to the point where people can hear it very clearly outside, when it's making boost and when it lets off boost. Any thoughts? Also don't want a mechanic messing with it thinking that something was missing if something is indeed gone...One more edit, all hoses are NEW. Yellow95
Are you running the stock airbox? If you added a cone filter and took off the stock airbox, you will hear those sounds.Gary

CRK
How much boost are you running? Any mods to increase boost? And Remember.... If it's not broken dont fix it, if it breaks, it means it time for upgrade/mod. B)

If it's not broken dont fix it, if it breaks, it means it time for upgrade/mod. Mine is pretty loud now that I fixed the wastegate ( not adjust, just smacked it), I have aftermarket torque bushings and the EST rip kit that could effect the noise. I probably should slap in a K&N soon as I'm still running a stock air filter. Problem is I have this BMC CDA that I'm also considering, but that will require some custom fab to install. Texas850Turbo
Boost gauge.....I've heard that a loud turbo means it's on it's way out. Keep your eye on oil in the intercooler piping.edit---- POST 500!!! woot!
TM850R
Yes a little search would have shown that loud turbos generally mean that they are on their way out. But it depends on what kind of noise its making. If he just hears the normal sound of a turbo spooling thats fine. If it sounds like a train, your bearings are shot (or just about) on the turbo. I may not be correct though. This is just from what I remember from what Ive read here. You should be able to hear some turbo sounds.
