Matts 850 GLT
Everyone.Got poor water in our area, and so have a lot of 'limescale' in the expansion tank and cooling system. We flushed it a month ago and put in distilled water with Volvo coolant but probably the damage is already done. What, if any, is the best way of dissolving or treating it?ThanksMatt

When you start disturbing the scale you may find holes and or dislodge stuff that clogs up you tstat or system. Troubles?
Matts 850 GLT
No, no troubles so far.I was wondering if it was worth cleaning or best left alone. I have flushed the radiator and changed the t-stat and put on a green expn cap. Put new coolant with d/stilled water and hopefully no damge done.ThanksMatt
pfeener
If you do a search on this forum you'll get additional info, but I recall folks flushing the system with white vinegar to remove the scale. If you're not having cooling issues I won't even go there.
