trap6435
My 1999 V70 R AWD has been throwing intermittent CELs, 3 or 4 ECM 644 codes over the last few weeks. Dealer reads them but the camshaft control tests ok. Dealer re-sets CEL and it returns - no pattern. Any ideas??? Dealer says the the camshaft control is about $600 for the part. YIKES! Is that correct?? ANy chance that this coul dbe caused by the electronic throttle control - I had software upgraded. Any chance it could be caused by mods - 3" downpipe or Denso Iridium plugs?? malani
Check the wiring to the valve, maybe when the spark plugs were done the wiring could have been caught under the cover.
trap6435
Check the wiring to the valve, maybe when the spark plugs were done the wiring could have been caught under the cover.A different mech said that it could be just the adjustment on the camshaft that threw CEL after the T belt was changed. We'll see!
MrWinkey
Well I was gonna ask whether you recently had a T-belt then I saw the mileage and now your posting that you did do a t-belt why I don't know because the interval is for 105k(miles)...most likely if there was no light before the t-belt and now you have a light after the t-belt incorrect timing is your problem.....other causes are poor oil quality and sometimes I have seen a restricted valve...but if timing is all in line and your oil is ok ,there is no restriction then replace the valve

Oil's been clean. Will have the adjustment done tomorrow so we'll see on the CEL...........
MrWinkey
Hopefully you replace the manual tensioner when you did your t-belt as they do have issues ;)
