xtc
I found a great pair of speakers for my rear doors, currently they have no speakers. The speakers are Alpine SPS-17C2. I am putting in an Alpine head unit so I thought adding 2 more speakers would make it sound better.Crutchfield says the speakers don't fit in a 1998 S70. Is there an easy way to make them fit? I was going to have a local stereo shop install them tomorrow but I don't want them to cut the stuff out of the rear doors.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8kuscyXhnV4/c...=500SPS17C2#Tab

PyROZen
buy type S anyway. I have Type S 5-1/4" in all four doors and they sound great. If you hook them up to a 4-channel, you'll be in a world of mid-bass goodness :)
xtc
The stereo shop says that if add two rear door speakers it will burn out my deck, something about OHMs. They say I should add an amplifier if I am going to add two speakers. Is this true? The other option they gave me was to replace my two front speakers with the Alpines.Opinions?
PyROZen
you should be able to put speakers in all 8 locations without worry of burning up the deck. When you hook up all 8 speakers in our cars it drops the OHMs to 2 on each channel. Most decent decks these days are capable of doing this without worry of it overheating or shutting down. My advice is to remove the front dash speakers, and the rear deck speakers. Then put your new 5 1/4" in each door. This will put you at 4 OHMs on each channel from the HU. If you can afford to add a 4-channel though i definitly recommend it, it will put you music in a totally different league.lee
xtc
I had the two 6.5 inch Alpines put in the front by a stereo shop. I still have the Volvo speakers from the front door. I guess I could put them in the rear doors but I am guessing the rear doors aren't pre-wired for the 6 speaker system. An Amp isn't the budget right now.
