hey, our volvos were THE stuff 10 years ago

Were they? I don't remember Volvo's ever being associated with the "cool" crowd. People usually think of grandparents or soccer moms when volvo is mentioned. That's what we're here for. To school folks that volvo's can and will kick your ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD and you WILL like it.

I would still take a boxter even if it is the lowest Porsche. I find them attractive . The baby Benz and bimmer are a different story. Those scream "I couldn't afford a real 3 series and I don't want a civic, so I'll get a 3 series that looks like a civic hatchback". Yay compromise <_<

Pftt, Porsche Boxter is the base model Porsche, just like a BMW 318 or a 525, people just buy them to say "I drive a Porsche/BMW"

Sorry Carson, but that is just ignorant. The Boxster was not engineered short, only a little underpowered in the base model. The weight balance and handling are impeccable as any Porsche. Pick up an S model and you have something that will run circles around a Carrera, how can you possibly argue with that? It is a fantastic car.

you're right, but i meant like our 10 year old 850s were once $30k+ cars that competed with audi A4s and BMW 3 series

I don't deny the fact that it COULD kick my cars ass around a track, but I will state my own opinion that I would never buy/take a Boxter. And same goes for the BMW 318, it is such a light car that it has a very good power/weight ratio, but I still wouldn't take one.

Remember, it is STILL a Porsche, just not the BEST Porsche. Plus, I just don't like how the Boxters look :P

carson..

gonna have to call you out on this one my man, in no way can you compare a base model BMW with a base model porsche.

the only reason the boxster isnt the flagship car is because of the prestige and evolution that the 911 has built itself up on.. the boxster is everybit better than a 911 minus the engine... and porsche knows that, which is why they keep the output ratings below that of a 911.

in the 90's this same thing happened with the 968 Turbo's.. which is why only 8 or so were produced.. the car could outperform and outhandle a 911 of its day.

go run around in a 3.8 liter swapped boxster then tell me its a shitty car.

im ending this right here.

buying ANY base model porsche, bmw, mercedes or EVEN VOLVO is like buying a bicycle without wheels. sure you can enjoy it, but not a whole lot.

porsche boxsters are amazing cars, but i wouldn't get one. if you do something, do it right. buy 911.

thats not ending the argument..

so if i were to buy a base model 911 i assume i wouldnt be satisfied with my purchase ?

you're argument is ridiculous... lets list all the 911's they offer.

off the top of my head,

carerra 2

carerra 2S

carerra 2 Cab.

carerra 2S Cab.

carerra 4

carerra 4S

carerra 4 Cab.

carerra 4S Cab.

carerra turbo.

and dont forget the slated for release targa's.. not to mention the bigger better versions the GT2 and GT3 counterparts.

thats alot of cars to choose from.. i guess the carerra 2 would be the base model.. non-S of course, each model though offers something that a driver may want or may not want... i know many porsche 911 owners who would be more than happy driving around a boxster if it met the needs that they wanted.

your argument should be more correctly followed by this.

if you want to own a porsche for the image, purchase a 911.. not a boxster

A Boxter is the 2nd lowest Porsche. The base Cayenne is cheaper. Eitherway, a Boxter is a "poor man's Porsche".. not a "poor man's car"

seriously. the boxster is a poor mans porsche. it's the 914 of today.

also, your point about buying a 911 for image is I'm dumb. people BUY porsches for the image, regardless of model. therefor i say if you're gonna buy a porsche, do it right and don't skimp.

done yet?

Gonna have to agree with you 100%. This is why the Cayman pisses so many people off, it has the potential to blow the 911 out of the water in ever aspect, but porsche could never do that to there flagship model. The boxster is one of the most well ballanced cars to date.

My 4k pound stock BMW stomps Boxters all day. I go agree though that the Boxter is leaps and bounds more refined than anything Volvo has made in the last 15 years.
