Zyklon
I've had some 4 gauge power running to my truck for a while, but I'm tired of the uber-ghetto way I ran it (you can see it when you open the door). I just looked up under the dash and tried to find a nice spot to drill, but I'm not sure where to do it. I have a '93 850 GLT, if that helps. I found where the other wires pass through, but it's dark outside and I can't get the big fuse box out.~ Any thoughts on where would be optimal to drill? Also, what kind of bit should be used? Thanks.
wattsat
Maybe this will help. This is where I routed mine. It is on the passenger side of the car. There are three unused (at least on my 95 Turbo) holes in the one grommet. Cut some slits then apply some grease and just slide it through. FINN
You can even pull the whole nipple piece off to run large stuff.
Modus
In my 98 S70 Glt there's a pass though right under the main wire harness that exits through some wire loom, it was there as stock.wether yours is the same and missing due to the dark. not sure,I had enough room to sneek a 4 gauge wire 1/4" air line and a few other wires. If you are going to drill, use a bit for metal at slow speed may need to use a center punch so your bit doesn't walk. And don't forget to use a rubber gromit when you snake your cable though. don't want the rough edges of your wall eating your power cable.
wattsat
FYI, the Power cable shown in the picture is 4awg.
850 Stylzz
I had a devil of a time getting my 4 gauge through the factory loom. The ends kept snagging on the ribs. On a productivity/time scale, that was easily the most costly part of my install.
nagrod18
I had the same experience as 850 stylzz, but I think it was well worth it. I followed the tutorial at project850.com and found it incredible helpful. when I sent the wire through the loom it took me a couple tries to figure out that it got stuck about 2 inches from the end of the loom, so I just used needle nose pliers to pull it the rest of the way through, hope all goes well. phoenix_noir
I has similar problems routing my power line, but I ended up doing it through the same place as Wattsat...and it's worked wonderfully.
