Rear Rattle

Ok I have searched and it seems to be a pretty common problem. Is there a reason for this? Is there some upgrade out there that can remedy the problem or getting one from FCP Ok? Also, I don't have the funds right now, can I take it off and ride like that for awhile. Its probably not doing its job anyway.

Also when taking off the drivers side I can't seem to find how to take that part off. Sorry for the noob questions. I try to research and figure it out before asking question that have been asked over and over so be gentle ;) with me.

Does it slip into the bracket or whatever its called and bolt in from the top?

It looks like I have to get an alignment after install so I guess that answers the question about taking it off for now, anyway...

If it's not broke I don't think it should be rattling unless the bolts are loose. You can take it off, as my wagon didn't even come stock with one (no alignment needed). The bolts on the driverside are alittle tricky you need to get a wrench on one end while you loosen the other.

I had a rattling in the rear, and found out it was the spring retainer things that hold the bottom of the spring tight. They had come loose and were driving me nuts. It also could be your upper shock mounts rattling if there shot.

So would I still need to get it aligned, if I take it off??

Thanks

To take the rear bar off, you must loosen the bolts that hold the alignment in place, just like when you install it. So you would need an alignment if you take it off. You can try to be really careful and return the trailing arms to the exact same position, but the only way to be sure is to get an alignment.

This link is pretty good for the procedure, I also found that the Haynes manual is good for this job.
