Noahkk19
Got the car back from the shop about a week ago and had to rush out, in the process I knew there was some spot on here with instructions on how to do so, but I can not remember? POOKDIZZLE
Why is it on? The shop should be able to do it for you free of charge if it is their mistake. When I get to work tomorrow I can see if there is anyway that you can do it w/o a scan tool used at Dealerships; but I don't know of anyway off the top of my head sorry. Noahkk19
Thanks, I remember it comming on sometimes on the 94 850 after the battery had been unplugged for a while and I'm figuring this is the same deal...I'm in college away from any Volvo anything so, gotta do it on my own... Zappo
You don't reset it. When the problem is fixed, the lights go out.
Noahkk19
Possible something is disconnected? I refuse to think something is physically wrong if the light wasnt on before it went into the shop and on top of that hadnt moved since in it. Noahkk19
No, unless they took them off for a valve job ;)
Mesoam
your ABS module went out the door...mine went after i changed the oil, just randomly
Gilhuly
The ABS self tests every time you start the car. You either have an issue with the ABS module itself or, more likely in this case you have some crud or something on one of the wheel speed sensors and the ABS isn't getting good data. The sensors are attached by wire down near the brakes. I believe they operate magnetically. I forget, but that makes sense.your ABS module went out the door...mine went after i changed the oil, just randomly
Noahkk19
Well if you believe so I'll go ahead and look into getting another one...From all the reading I've done I thought the ABS Module was a 90% of the time 96+ problem on 850's. Got my Haynes Manual so I'll go ahead and look at what I can...Any more thoughts/suggestions?
Mesoam
if you go to the dealer they can read the codes for why the abs light is on, if it comes up "right front sensor" that is typically the module itself and not the sensor
Luther White
Pull your codes amd then reset it. See if it doesn't fix it.
POOKDIZZLE
Also if it is the module get it rebuilt @$150, don't be persuaded to buy a new one by the dealer ;)
Noahkk19
Just thought about something...Before my car went to the shop it sat for about a month and a half. Brakes got extremely rusted and I'm thinking that the car sitting doing nothing for that long could have messed up some connections?
