Weitec Scam?

I questioned the Sachs stuff right away upon receiving my Weitecs whenever it was ... like eight months ago maybe? The fact that I got a Sachs Super Touring strut/shock didn't really matter to me as much as the fact that I didn't expect it, so I can relate to the original poster's concerns.

I came from a stock setup, then to Bilsteins/H&R, then Weitec. I agree with the opinion that they are stiffer and better handling than stock, and less harsh and not as good at handling than the Bilsteins/H&R setup. However, I really think that the "stiffer than stock" feeling comes mainly from the springs, not the Sachs. Are they matched and balanced? They feel like it. Are they revalved and engineered? I seriously doubt it.

The thing that miffs me most about the Weitecs is the whole rear spring situation in the sedan application. The rear springs from the sedan kit raise the back end too high, and the rear springs from the wagon kit lower the back end too much, causing the front end to raise too high. I have tried them both ways on my 850 since I have two kits and drive both a sedan and a wagon. I'm not happy with either scenario and it looks like I'm going to have to purchase maybe some TME (or other) rear springs for the 850 until I find the optimal solution. And I ask myself why did I spend 'x' number of dollars on this kit and now have to spend 'y' more to get it right? Because of this, I give the Weitecs a thumbs down. The Sachs issue is just icing on a bad tasting cake.

Before they went on the car we compared the Weitec shocks to the stockers by just compressing them by hand. It was definitely harder to compress the Weitecs and my stockers on had about 80k miles on them.

Pushing a shock in and out by hand means nothing (especially in your example)!

Probably the most you can tell by hand is if you have a completly blown shock!

The multiple valving systems in most good shocks take a little more force and velocity to open and close than your "hand" can provide. :)

Don't most people run the wagon kit on the sedan and the sedan kit on the wagons for that very reason? Just curious because I'm looking at getting weitecs...if not then bilstiens/H&R's.

dude, Apple also advertises that it uses Intel processors, while Weitech never said it uses Sach's components....HUGEMONGOUS difference here....this completely nullifies your post...it is useless to everything that is holy to mankind.

On another note, in which your post will again be burned, no one here has had their Weitech kit on from Greg for more than 2 years MAX.....we have yet to really determine longevity.

oh snap young I totally got like, served... golly gee really?! Apple advertises their use of Intel?.... look everyone, we have ourselves a real detective here!

you need to pull thy head out of thy jerk and get a poking clue as to when you are reading SARCASM!

OK I rang Weitec in Germany today at 9am for an explanation. The guy was too busy to give me an answer on the phone, and said he'd email me. It's 6pm here, 7 in Germany and their phone line is now on answerphone.

So I've given Weitec a whole working day to respond to this question and fight for their reputation with the 700+ people who have already read this thread, and they didn't bother getting back to me.

My vendor is amazed too; Koni FSD and Eibachs are coming instead.

PS I've got this really cool Martin Ultra Kit for $1000. It's a carefully matched spring and shock combo and really is the business. Any takers? :)

If I remember correctly, aren't the FSD's made to work with only stock springs, not lowering springs?

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Apparetly, eibach has a developed a spring that will work with the FSD, it's probably a load of crap/scam.

FYI, that's 700 views, not 700 people. Just sayin'

Yes, but in my case having the wagon rear springs on my 850 sedan makes my tires rub ... and I only have 7.5" wide Comets running 215/45. When the sedan rear springs are on the 850 sedan, the wheel gap is just as high as stock, if not more.
