$675 For Drivers Inner And Outta Tie Rods

So I had my drivers inner and outer tie rods replaced. When I replaced my tires they told me that the rods were very loose and showed cracks. The steering is a lot better but boy was the bill a little steep. Note: never get work done at a dealersihp in the city of Detroit - or any city I guess. But it needed to be done before I continue out west. Next on the list is new seals on the angle drive, new rotors, and new top engine mount. Gotta love owning a Volvo.

Inners too, eh? I need to do my outers. I hope it'll tighten up the steering.

My steering is certainly more responsive now. The steering was a lot heavier before. I think I screwed up the tie rods when I hit a pot hole on that side two weekends ago here in Detroit and bent the rim in the process.

cracks? in what? the rubber boot? your car had no slop in it whatsoever when i drove it

I'm pretty sure it was due to that pothole in Detroit. The car was shaking like hell most of the way on the highway. Seems to be all good now. It was all pretty fast and I didn't really notice it either. Must have mostly happened on the highway with all the vibration. I think they meant cracks in the boots.

each part was probably around 70 bucks @ dealer prices right?

so theres 4 parts... I guess they would charge 2-3 hours labor to do that?

theres another 300 bucks

Plus it needed another alignment with the new parts, thats another 100...

is it expensive, yes.... unreasonable, not really
