Window Tint Install Question

i noticed the thread below about pre-cut tint. im a DIY kinda guy :). i purchased the pre-cut and it was nicely done. in short.... no problem with the pre-cut, just the installer ( me ) LOL. i got the rear door windows, and rear wing windows no prob. the front door glass on drivers side went on great until like a dummy i jump in the car in a hurry and hit my pwr. window switch and rip the bottom of the tint( it hadnt dried yet ) and the pass. front i just plain messed it up and the rear is a B#$ch.

i called a couple of tint shops in town and they want basically 120.00 to finish the job ( by the way, thats the price to do the entire car in the first place ) ripping me off...

sooooo being the hard headed guy that i am im gonna go get some tint fromt the local parts store and try and finish what ive started. my question is.... for those of you that have installed tint on the rear how did you do it ? ive read you can use baby powder, dryer sheets, and a hair dryer and ive read some peeps put the tint on in pieces and hide the cuts at your defogger lines. how do u guys do it on the rear glass to make it work ? from what ive read, the rear glass is the hardest due to the slight curve in the glass and you end up with wrinkles ( thats what happened to me ) if you attempt to put it on in one piece without stretching and heating the tint.

By the way I paid about $186 to have my tint installed professionally. That is front windows, rear windows, back window. It has a warranty on it and I can go back anytime to have it redone if it needs it. My tint has been on my car for a year now and it hasn't turned purple yet.

GET A PRO TO DO IT..

sheeesh

+1 to that.

$120 is what they're asking to finish the job or finish the part u messed up on too? If thats the case they charge for tint removal also along with the installation of the new tint. Also tint they sell at Autozone n walmart have a tendency to turn purple after a while.

But that is the hot look now, tint that turns purple.

they want 120.00 to do the front doors and rear window.. ( ripping me ) sorry im just not paying that after ive done half the work for em. i understand what everyone says, pay a pro, get a warranty, makes sense. id probably do that if i havent already got half of it done. now, they just want me to pay full price and they only have to do half the work... not..

ummmm anit... let me spell it out for you... THE BACK DOORS ARE COMPLETE. THE SMALL SIDE WING WINDOWS ARE COMPLETE.

ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS PUT THE TINT ON THE TWO FRONT DOORS AND REAR WINDOW. = (3 PIECES OF GLASS) INSTEAD OF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME 120.00 WHICH IS THE SAME PRICE TO DO THE ENTIRE CAR. (7 PIECES OF GLASS.)

THE WINDOWS THAT NEED TO STILL BE DONE ARE CLEAN, ALL TINT AND GLUE REMOVED. FRESH INSTALL FOR THEM.

DO U UNDERSTAND NOW ????????

sorry i have enough intelligence to know when im getting screwed. i would appreciate before you decide to think someone is a screw up read more carefully. thank you :P shewww... anyways.. i didnt ask this to start a bashing contest... im just asking if anyone has put tint on the rear curved window ????

the tint films in walmart and autozone turns purple if you use blue windex, if you use regular soapy water, it won't do that.

find another shop, it should cost less

I got a few cars tinted for 100-140 bucks in different shops/locations, all were good, but not great quality jobs, some little very hard to notice imperfections here and there.

I tinted my truck myself, not too hard, but very hard to get good quality, I did half-jerk job, but it cost me $5 or so...have you seen hot to do it?
