How much boost should a stock ECU allows to run?

Here is my story. I had Upsolute Chip Tuning flashed my ecu few days ago, They took 3hours to do it, and it ended up with noting changed. Accrooding to the HQ of Upsolute, the car should run 15psi, 230hp, 285ft right after install the program. My test result was 6psi which is even below stock 8psi.

So, how can a reflashed ECU change the boost by itself? According to another motorsports, change a ecu should only allows to run higher boost, not actually change the boost. It has to work with a boost controller in order to bring the boost up. What do you guys think?

Another question, I did installed a boost controller after all. After i put about 200miles on the car after the boost controller installed, I get Check Engine Light. What can I do?

Help please! Thank you!!

Couple of things -

1. Firstly, since you have a higher compression engine, high octane is a must! Without it, the engine will be constantly pulling timing.

2. Installing an aftermarket boost controller on your ME7 ECU will make the ECU think that your have a boost control problem and flag up a fault code such as "turbo pressure control - flow too high/low". The ECU will use the electronic throttle to control the boost instead.

3. You should not need to install any boost controller. Your car already has a boost controller which is controlled by the ECU.

4. Get the fault codes read. This will give you a clue as to what the problem is.

Thank you for the input. I didn't install boost controller in the beginning. The reason leaded me to get a boost controller was because I didn't get the 15psi boost after i installed Upsolute chip. Why is that? Do I have a boost leak?

thanks again!

I have almost the same setup on my 850. I install the Greddy EBC First that is when the only computer upgrade on the market is IPD. Two years ago I put Upsolute chip on the car, after install max boost is at 0.5Bar and someone told me that the EBC is limiting the boost. So I turn up my EBC to 1.4BAR allowing the computer to do its thing. Now for very short time 1-5sec I can push the car to about 1.2-1.3 Bar on over take and the best of all low end pick up is fast. Maybe I will blow my engine soon.

First, check the fault codes! This may give you a clue as to why your boost is low, if any codes are logged.

Yes, I took the MBC off today. the result was 4psi... the check engine code was 'over boosting', If I had a boost leak, how can the computer tells 'over boosting'? I had 2 places checked my engine, none of them found any leak. I think either the guy didnt tune my ecu at all, or he didnt tune it right at least.

What was the exact fault code? ECM-6805 for example?

If you are overboosting, the ECU goes into limp home mode, and sets the boost to a very low level. What causes the overboosting? A faulty BCS valve can do that for example, or a boost controller pipe that's disconnected etc etc - the causes could be many. Assuming the software is correct, the fault is going to be mechanical of some sort.

Reset the fault codes, and see if it comes back.
