96volvoR
Hello, i am planning on put 2.5" catback exhaust with a magnaflow muffler on my car, but my dad insists that he needs to talk to a mechanic to make sure it wont turn into a needed repair. i keep telling him it will just add hp and will change the tone and there is absolutely nothing that it can do to hurt the car. Please give me any negatives so i can print out this posting and show it to him. Thanks alot,Nick
FINN
it will hurt resale value of the car.

prasamin
the only downside is that you'll be pounding on it more, therefore things are more likely to go wrong.other than that, it won't do anything to anything....
Ross_Da_Boss
if your dad is worried then maybe you should look into purchasing a cat back exhaust from ipd. I believe they are around 650. It makes parents feel better when a part is made from an big company rather then a custom job from a local shop. The only downside would be that you will pay a premium for the name. 96 t5 wagon
the best bang for the buck at the moment= K&R motoring exhaust. 3" downpipe to a 2.5" catback. all stainless steel.
leurven
There isn't any harm in upgrading your exhaust. Better flow is good for gas mileage and can take wear away from the turbo. Consider a K&N or something also.

Zappo
what do you mean pounding anymore? Magnaflow makes the loud pedal louder. You are fine with Mangnaflow. Put a Flowmaster on there and you will be in for expensive repairs.
