Vaportrail
Yep. Get this....wife finds the wagon she always wanted on ebay...Fly in to pick up the wagon...$120.00 for a one way ticket.Halfway home at midnight, the trans stops working. Stinkey moldy hotel room...$80.00Tow $90.00You get the picture..First the trans arrow started flashing. Pulled over immediately and checked trans oil. All OK, get on the highway being very carefull and gentle. The check engine light goes on. Pull over and check engine oil. All OK. Another hundred miles trouble free at 70mph. Get out of a construction area and accelerate gently. Downshifts then revs then nothing at all in forward or reverse. Next morning, starts fine and does drive in forward and reverse. I drove it about 300 feet then backed up. Checked trans fluid. Light gray with a small amount of metalic. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the trouble might be? My wife and I are really worried that this may be a major expense after streaching to buy it. Does anybody have any leads on a rebuild or perhaps a low mileage used transmission? Seamus
Where are you? I have a used trans for that car in Califonia. It has only 52k on it and is in great shape..
Lynn Brockman
Dang. Sorry to hear about the issues. I had a similar 'flashing arrow' issue on my 850, and the issue was the PNP switch on the transmission where the shifter cable goes. As it reports perceived gear position to the computer, when it fails it may confuse the computer and cause poor upshifts, and in my case it would go 'into neutral' when it was upshifting from 3rd to 4th. It never resulted in loss of all forward and rearward gears though. Did you have the transmission codes scanned yet? While it may not be THE issue in your case, it may have contributed to it. Gray metallic fluid is a bad omen, in most cases.. - Lynn

rcclass
Where the heck did you find the AT dipstick to check the level? It's under the tube that least to the airbox...It took me a few to find it myself My trans is still going strong at 8K miles, bu i've been wondering if it's possible to do a 5 (or 6) speed manual swap...
