Driving it around today after picking it up from the dealership and everything was fine. I was on my way home and the gas was really low. Trip computer still read 20 miles left. Parked the car in the driveway and shut it off and now when I try to start it, it starts then dies. Starts and dies. I thought it might be low on gas so went to the gas station and got a couple of gallons in a gas can still same deal. Anyone else had this problem before? Any ideas. The car is under warranty so I can get it fixed for free but I just need to know what it could be maybe possibly avoid a tow truck and no car for the weekend.Thanks in advance guys.Ben Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
leurven Posted September 8, 2006 Report Share Posted September 8, 2006 sounds like MAF problem. could also be fuel pump - they don't like it when trying to start with little fuel. Do the fuel pumps ever go out slowly, like it wont start then it will. Then later it wont start again? and eventually it goes out? I think it might have just been running on fumes and got some air in the gas line. Maybe? I dunno but I would like to get it fixed if theres something wrong before the warranty expires, which is soon. Anyway thanks again.Ben Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
leurven Posted September 8, 2006 Report Share Posted September 8, 2006 Air in the lines wouldn't cause this kind of problem because the car pumps the air out very quickly (think about when you replace your fuel filter). Fuel pumps can go out slowly but it isn't too common. They either work or they don't. There isn't a way to check your fuel pump either if it is working. However, when the fuel pump fails it will leave you stranded. When was the last time the car had spark plugs etc.. done? Just try to eliminate the possibilities.
