rodrigo
I toppled over a Caterpillar Skid Steer forwards. I had about 1-1.3 tons of steel rebar on the forks and it toppled over when I was trying to clear a fence 10' high or so. I managed to get the rebar past the fence (it was a tight reach) but when I was lowering the forks after passing the fence, it was just too much weight and it toppled forwards. So, I managed to climb out, but before I left I turned the key to so I could remove it and the engine kept running..not surprising as its a diesel. Then, all this black, grey-back smoke started to spew out of the stack, and it eventually stopped running. It ran toppled like that for about 2 minutes or so? I checked the oil after all this, and it was on the minimum most line...it was topped off at the top line when i started (i always check it when i use it).I let ti sit for a while for the oil to get down to the crankcase, and started it up ( after checking oil as mentioned above ), and the engine sounded 'funny' or 'different'. As it ran, all the black smoke blew out and regular 'diesel' smoke was coming out. didnt notice power loss, but i didnt really mess around with it..i had had enough fun for one day.possibility of engine damage??is there a way to kill the enfine on these so as to not have it run when toppled??PS: had i been wearing my seat lap belt, I would not have flung open the sissy bar when it tipped, abnd lose the function of the hand controls... <_<
